Ground Hunting Concealment

Ground Hunting Concealment

We have some of the best camo gear for blending into brush and trees! Lucas Kincaid from Hunting On The Edge started using the method of hunting on the ground and was able to kill a huge doe. Below are some tips from Lucas that can help you achieve a successful deer hunt while being eye to eye with your game.

Picking the Right Camo Pattern

When hunting off the ground, you want to make sure you have the right Camo pattern for your surroundings. You don’t want to have Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo when you are hunting on the edge of a bush. So, what I would recommend is Mossy Oak Obsession Camo for Spring and early Fall hunting season. Then when the leaves start to change colors, switch to New or Original Bottomland or Realtree Edge or Mossy Oak Break-up Country Camo.

Staying Hidden

Along with the camo pattern you choose for when you’re hunting in the year, there are other ways to keep yourself invisible. One of those ways is by tucking yourself into the brush or up against a tree. That way your silhouette isn’t showing and you can blend in with the depth of your surroundings.

Shooting Lanes

Another thing to remember when trying to stay concealed (especially when trying to hunt off the ground where you are eye level) is shooting lanes. You want to make sure that you have at least a couple of lanes that you can shoot a deer from, although you don’t want to make them too big since you also want to still be hidden in the brush.

Movement

One of the last things you need to keep in mind with being concealed is your movement. It’s already difficult enough hunting off the ground, so you want to try your best to get it done without messing up. Sometimes you get sore sitting in the same spot, along with having to move your weapon if the animal is coming from a different direction than you expected. So what I recommend is moving very slowly if you have to adjust in any way. Moving slowly helps you be able to adjust without the animals seeing a quick movement and then getting spooked. Once the animal is spooked, it may be harder to get them to come into that spot again.

QuikCamo has some amazing gear that can help you stay concealed and blended in while hunting on the ground. The leafy suit and leafy camo gloves help you look like a bush or tree with the leaves blowing in the wind. It also helps break-up/cut up the human silhouette to avoid sticking out when trying to conceal yourself while hunting.

Good suggestions, but hunt with the wind. I in your favor. So have different spots for an ambush. According to the wind direction
